The Chicago Bull’s loss to Milwaukee Bucks
By: Hayden Lewis
Ersan Ilyasova made 14 of 18 points in the second half and the Milwaukee Bucks overcame a 27-point deficit in an amazing return to end the game with a 93-92 win over the Chicago Bulls on Monday night. Richard Hamilton scored a season-high 30 points for the Bulls but missed the final buzzer beater that would have won the game.
Ilyasova led a 31-4 second half-run as the Bucks broke a nine-game losing streak to Chicago and stopped the Bulls from moving past Milwaukee into first place in the Central Division. He also scored 12 points in the fourth quarter when Milwaukee outscored Chicago 30-12. The Bucks haven’t beaten the Bulls since April 6, 2012. John Henson, Udrih and Udoh all scored 11 points while Monta Ellis added 10.
Hamilton was coming off a season-high 22 points in Chicago's 93-86 win at Milwaukee on Saturday. Kirk Hinrich added a season-best 17 points and six assists. Chicago had one final chance, Udoh knocked the ball out of bounds reaching for Dunleavy's pass with 7.5 seconds left and Chicago called a timeout. Hamilton took a pass and shot a fadeaway at the buzzer over Lamb, but didn’t come up with the basket. Carlos Boozer had 19 points and 11 rebounds for Chicago. Luol Deng added 10 points and eight boards.
The game was reminiscent of the biggest lead the Bulls ever blew at home, which was a 35-point lead in a home loss to the Sacramento Kings on Dec. 21, 2009. Hamilton and Boozer combined for 17 points in the third period as Chicago seemingly blew the game open.
The Bulls outscored Milwaukee 28-13 in the third period and opened up a 27-point lead on Hinrich's 3-pointer with 2:50 to go in the third quarter. That gave Hinrich his season-high for points, just the third time he's reached double digits this season.

The Chief's Grief
By: Daniel Bohuczky
Monday December 3, 2012 Kansas City, Mo. It was like any other Saturday for the Kansas City Chiefs during the NFL season, the general manager and coach hard at work early Saturday morning to put final touches on the weekend’s gameplan for the team. Then they got a call to hurry to the parking lot, the two men hurried through the main doors of the Chiefs headquarter building and came face to face with their linebacker Jovan Belcher holding a handgun to his head.
Belcher had already shot and killed his girlfriend and came to the Arrowhead Stadium, right past the main security checkpoint. When he located his bosses Belcher thanked the general manager Scott Pioli and head coach Romeo Crennel for giving him a chance in the NFL. Then he turned away as police were pulling in and pulled the trigger. Eight losses in a row, multiple player injuries and upset fans contributed to the rumor that Pioli and Crennel could be let go by the end of the season. Police did not release a possible motive to Belchers actions, other than the fact Belcher and his girlfriend had many arguments lately. Belcher and his girlfriend Kasandra left behind a 3-month-old baby girl.
The drama unfolded early Saturday when police got a call from a woman who said her daughter had been shot multiple times at a home five miles from the headquarters. The call came from Belcher’s mom who referred to the victim as her daughter. "She treated Kasandra like a daughter," Kansas City police spokesman Darin Snapp stated, she had also recently moved in with the couple, "probably to help out with the baby."
Police then got a phone call from the Chiefs’ training facility matching Belcher’s description from the address of the first 911 call. Snapp said officers pulled into the practice facility parking lot in a few minutes, just in time to witness the suicide. The coaches told police they never felt to be in any sort danger. They said “the player was actually thanking them for everything they’d done for him." The Chiefs issued a statement concerning their game Sunday afternoon against the Carolina Panthers and that is would go on as scheduled, even though the team was still trying to come to understanding with Belcher’s death. To the surprise of many fans and controversy the Chiefs did in fact win that game on Sunday.
"You can take your worst nightmare and put someone you know and love in that situation, and give them a gun and stand three feet away and watch them kill themselves. That’s what it’s like," James said. Saturday morning Crennel told the team the tragic news, "It was obviously tough for coach to have to tell us that" quarterback Brady Quinn said. "He really wasn’t able to finish talking to us. We got together and prayed and then we moved on." Quinn said the team was so shocked, it was difficult to digest what had just happened. "It’s hard mostly because I keep thinking about what I could have done to stop this," he said. "I think everyone is wondering whether we would have done something to prevent this from happening."
“25-year-old Jovan Belcher was from West Babylon, N.Y. and played college football at Maine. He signed with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent, made the team and hung around the past four years, eventually moving into the starting lineup. He played in all 11 games this season“ The NFL released a statement expressing their greatest sympathy and saying that they would be glad "to provide assistance in any way that we can." The players’ association was also in contact with members of the Chiefs.
